ARIZONA HAIRSTON’S LEGACY OF CARING

Arizona Counseling & Consultation Services was named in honor of Arizona Hairston who was the first lady of Refuge Baptist Church for more than 60 years. Arizona supported and helped many individuals in the community and church who suffered with emotional, mental, physical and spiritual maladies. On November 2, 1931 Arizona called a group of ladies together to organize the first Nurses Guild Ministry in the Church for the City of Columbus, Ohio. This ministry serves the community and congregation by providing health training classes, going to homes helping the disabled and volunteering at events for healthy living.
